Come in to see his work on display at Old Harbor Books
James Poulson is a photographer who grew up in Sitka. He helps run his family's newspaper, the Daily Sitka Sentinel.
He enjoys American and Canadian modernist art from 100 years ago and the man-made and natural environment of Sitka today. His paintings are an effort to combine the two. Most are oil on canvas. He learned wood engraving from Dale DeArmond and art photography from Gay Burke at the University of Alabama.
He is married to Kristen Homer who is a nurse practitioner and director of the Mt. Edgecumbe High School clinic. They have two children, Lucy and Addie, who are active in the arts.
